I made this little notebook (mine is 2" x 4") from a used manila envelope. It utilized only things I normally throw away and I think the postage makes an interesting cover.
You will need:
- a large manila paper mailing envelope (cut into desired size with the paper cutter leaving the folded edge of envelope intact as pictured).
- Scrap card cut into two pieces 1/2 the size of your pages (mine came from food packaging).
- Yarn or string and needle.
- Stick glue.
- Small hole punch.
1. Choose which page to use for the cover. Reinforce the inside by gluing card inside cover with stick glue.
This is what your cover should look like at this point.
2. Stack your pages. Punch two holes through the fold of each page.
3. Sew the pages together.
3. Using stick glue, attach the back page to the inside cover. You could do the same with the front, but I choose to attach only the back.
4. Using stick glue, attach a small scrap of paper to reinforce the "spine" area.
Thanks for this idea. I get a lot of envelops with swapping, definatly going to make some notebooks like this.
