Free Spirit Spheres

We stayed one night on our trip at the Free Spirit Spheres, quite easily the most interesting thing I've ever slept in. The inventor and maker, Tom Chudleigh and his wife Rosey (both lovely people), keep three of the pod-like structures suspended in from various trees near their home in Qualicum Beach.

We stayed in Eve, the very first sphere ever made. Just below her is the world's cutest out-house (composting toilet) and a minute walk away around a little pond are two washrooms, a tiny kitchen and a Sauna (a very nice addition to the experience). These extra amenities are in a small building mounted to a trailer chassis so that in a few days the whole enterprise; spheres, washrooms and toilets could be moved to another location.

The sphere is suspended from various trees by ropes and sways a bit when one moves around or it gets windy. The ceiling is high and the windows are large, which makes the tiny interior floorspace seem more roomy.

I didn't get any good pictures of the inside. The video below is not mine, but it does a good job of showing what the insides of the Spheres look like. Ours was a bit smaller (twin bed, no upper berth and no little sink).

The other two Spheres (the top one is Eryn, which appears in the video):
