I'm Done! I'm Really Finally Done! (With My Very First Issue of Nuno Magazine)

A few spreads from this issue. Click on image to see larger.

I suppose most big projects grow out of all proportion and take on a life of their own. This one did.

It's finally done though! It's not perfect, but I learned a lot and I'm generally pleased with how it turned out. I'm looking forward to starting on the next issue for Winter!

My sister contributed several projects to this issue and corrected my "creative" spelling and grammar. My husband took many of the photographs (most involving me wearing winter clothes outdoors in the dead of summer). I thank them very much!

The very first issue of Nuno magazine has grown to 150 pages (it's 100% ad-free, so that really is 150 pages) and over 30 projects. Projects include the knitted fern pillow shown here, animal masks (perfect for Halloween costumes), a giant wool mushroom, handbags made from place mats, toilet paper tube puppets, the twig diorama shown here, jewelry made from pebbles and lots more projects, all made from salvaged and recycled materials.

You can buy a copy ($5US for a 33.9MB Digital Download in PDF format) directly from this blog. Use the shopping cart icon on the right side bar. The shopping cart service I am using will allow you to buy a copy from anywhere in the world.

Don't have a spare fiver? You can still access a free 20 page excerpt of this issue here. The free excerpt includes three complete projects with patterns and instructions.

  15. Elizabeth,
I found your blog through WhipUp today. I just read the 20 page preview and wow I am so excited to read the rest of it! 150 pages?! for $5?? are you kidding?! and you're donating profits to ADRA? I don't know how you've done it. Its simply amazing.
The preview was great, just enough to leave me wanting more. And i'm really digging your page layouts. Everything is very cohesive with a great earthy, fall feeling. I especially love the book cover background on the contents page.
Keep up the good work! And I'll be waiting excitedly for the Winter issue
