Quit a while back I found a embroidered 80's era cut work embroidered blouse at a thrift store. I bought it, even thought it was size 3X and I practically swam in it. It languished in my pile of "things to do something with someday" until a few weeks ago. I found the perfect thing to combine with it.
This "perfect thing" was also a embroidered 80's era cut work embroidered blouse, but it had the opposite problem. It was cropped length. Having already been through the whole crop top trend once, I have no desire to go around with my shirt hovering above my navel. (And if I'm really honest, its been a few years since I've had, ummm...the sort of belly to pull that look off).
The Tops (Before)
How I combined them: I cut off the 3X blouse straight across just below the arm holes. I took the resulting piece (the bottom portion of the blouse) and gathered the top edge. I then sewed the gathered portion to the bottom of the crop top. Now I have a lovely little tunic type blouse that is quite the opposite of cropped. I suspect that this one is going to be worn over and over.
