Tutorial: Braided Headband

I made this little braided headband from scraps of a beloved (but sadly, now very worn and holey) cashmere sweater. Any fine gauge knit will do for this project.

How-to:

Cut out pieces using pattern (embedded at end of post).

Pin and sew (right sides together) braid strips to form tubes.

Turn tubes right side out.
Press flat with seams centered on underside of tubes.

Secure strips together by hand stitching. Braid.
Secure end of braid by hand stitching.

Press over edges of trim piece.
Secure ends of braid together by hand stitching to form continuous band.
Position trim piece over junction of braid ends. Hand stitch in place.

  9. love the braiding! I've done headbands with jersey, which doesn't unravel and is a nice casual look, but will be making this next. A little more polished!
