Thrifting Finds (and One Nifty Gift)

I spotted this giant 3 inch long enameled articulated fish pendant in the jewelry case at Goodwill. I immediately pounced on it. I've been wearing it every other day since I got it. $2.50 well spent.

Genuine sailor pants in my size. Salvation Army. $5.99.

Crochet Collar. Senior Citizen Center Thrift. $1.65.

Unknown Jewelry(?). Pillbox, maybe? Does anyone know? (It's approx 2 inches long and doesn't have any provision for attaching a chain). Senior Citizen Center Thrift. $4.00.

This last piece is not my own find. My sister sent it to me. It's a child's dress. Very small, but with the most beautiful embroidery. Presumably, it was never worn. The newspaper that was used to stabilize the material while it was being embroidered is still intact.

  3. I have a small collection of articulated fish pendants. I rarely find one at a thrift store, though.

  7. Thanks for all the nice comments!

Crafty dill: It could be a lipstick case...it is not quite long enough for a modern lipstick, though.

  8. You're the queen of treasure hunting. Love all your finds, especially the sailor pants and the newspaper backed child's dress and wonder, what the writing is about. You could snap a picture and frame it. It's incredible.
It made me think of a beautiful Mexican child's dress I own, which my daughter wore when she was little. I love garments like these with a story to tell, and have at times hung it on a wire hanger in different corners of my house. And I might just wear my own nostalgic dress in front of the fire place....
