Since I've been learning to crochet, I've eaten into my small thrifted yarn stash and my attention has turned to unraveling sweaters. My sister Rachel wrote a great article on unraveling sweaters to salvage yarn, which appeared in the instruction sections of both the fall and winter issues of Nuno Magazine.
We decided to excerpt it and publish it as a stand-alone article, so even if you haven't purchased a full copy of either magazine, you can see the article here (or click on the document embedded below). Rachel is a knitter and has found unraveling sweaters a bit addictive, and I'm beginning to understand why. It's a terrific (and cheap) way to get high quality and interesting yarns.
