How-to:
Trace 3 circles on white light to medium weight fabric. I used a CD as a template and a pink Sharpie marker.
Add petal divisions.
Add vein markings. I used a red Sharpie.
Color in between the veins. I used the pink Sharpie again to fill in between the red veins.
Cut out.
Fold each piece one at a time as shown here. Before folding, dip in liquid starch or use the spray kind. Iron each folded piece dry.You may need to rearrange the folds to get to all the layers. Just remember that the purpose of the starch and layered folding is to make uneven pleats so that the petals will stand out from each other.
Unfold each piece and stack all the pieces together.
Anchor the three pieces together with a center made of french knots.
Nice idea! Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project! I like the idea of a cluster of them on a headband, sweater, or even a necklace.

These are so pretty! Another reason I need a rainbow pack of Sharpies!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the nice comments!
ReplyDeleteoh, i love this! i firmly believe that there's no limit to what one can do with sharpies.
ReplyDeleteOne can never have enough flowers. And these are especially beautiful - and so clever. I also love them as a pattern just in red and white! They would make a very special table decoration. Lots of them on a white table cloth. I need some sharpies.
ReplyDeleteI totally admire and respect this project. Last spring I spent HOURS trying to figure out how to make a fabric poppy. It is a lot of work. Great job. Love your stamens.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the tute... I love it and I am going to get busy making some soon!
