Tutorial: Making a Basic Paper Tube Starburst From Old Textbook Pages (Part One)

1. Detach 8 pages from book and trim rough edges.
2. Cut strips in half long-ways.
3. Roll one at a time tightly long-ways around dowel to form tube.
4. Use stick glue to fasten edge and smooth with fingertip after slipping off dowel.

5. Fold each tube in half.
6. Thread string or yarn on large needle.
7. Tie off yarn on fold of first tube.
8. Begin stitching tubes together.*
*Note that you are not running the needle through the paper itself.

9. Continue stitching the tubes together.
10. When all the tubes are connected,
add additional stitches in the middle to correct any unevenness.
