I used a size 2 or C hook and a combination of several lightweight crochet cottons and salvaged cotton multi-ply sweater yarn. Any fine weight string or yarn would be suitable. Adjust the hook size to be suitable for the yarn.
How-to:
Chain 20. Work 2 double crochet into the 4th chain from hook. * 3 double crochet in next chain, rep * to end of chain. Continue chaining until you reach the length you want. Tie off.
